Welcome to Tanzania
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport. You'll be met by a Papaya Tours representative and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Take time to rest and prepare for your upcoming adventure.
In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner and safari briefing with your guide who will explain the itinerary and answer any questions. Overnight at a comfortable lodge in Arusha.
Elephants & Baobabs
After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park. The park is famous for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and diverse wildlife including lions, leopards, cheetahs, and over 550 bird species.
Enjoy a full day game drive with picnic lunch. Watch elephants interact at the Tarangire River and spot predators in the grasslands. Check into your lodge in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight.
Journey to the Plains
After breakfast, journey toward the legendary Serengeti. Drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping at viewpoints overlooking the crater. Continue to the Serengeti's central Seronera region.
Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive. The Serengeti is home to the Big Five and hosts the Great Migration. Settle into your lodge or tented camp as the sun sets over the endless plains.
Seronera Wildlife Experience
Experience a full day exploring the Serengeti's heart. The Seronera River Valley is known for its high concentration of predators including lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Visit Retima Hippo Pool and the Kopjes.
Optional early morning hot air balloon safari available (additional cost). Watch the sun rise over the plains and see wildlife from above. Enjoy a champagne breakfast in the bush.
Following the Migration
Travel north through the Serengeti, following the Great Migration path. The Northern Serengeti offers spectacular wildlife viewing with fewer crowds. This area is famous for river crossings (July-October).
Game drive through the Lobo Valley and Bologonja Springs. Look for large prides of lions and herds of elephants. Overnight at a mobile camp or lodge in the north.
River Crossings & Remote Wilderness
Spend a full day exploring the Northern Serengeti. Visit the Mara River area where dramatic wildebeest crossings occur during migration season. The area offers excellent big cat sightings.
Explore the remote Lobo Kopjes and Kogatende area. This is one of the most pristine wilderness areas in Africa. Enjoy sundowner drinks in the bush before returning to camp.
Scenic Journey South
Enjoy a final morning game drive in the Northern Serengeti before beginning your journey south. Watch for predators during their most active hours.
Drive through the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Optional visit to a Maasai boma to learn about traditional culture. Arrive at your crater rim lodge in the late afternoon.
The Crater Floor & Flamingos
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The crater floor is home to approximately 25,000 large animals, including the endangered black rhino, lions, elephants, and hippos.
After a full morning in the crater, ascend and drive to Lake Manyara. Check into your lodge with views over the Rift Valley escarpment.
Tree-Climbing Lions & Maasai Culture
Explore Lake Manyara National Park on a morning game drive. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, large flocks of flamingos, and beautiful groundwater forest.
After lunch, visit a local Maasai village or enjoy a walking safari along the Rift Valley escarpment. Learn about traditional customs, dance, and daily life. Return to your lodge for a farewell dinner.
End of Safari Adventure
After a leisurely breakfast, begin your journey back to Arusha. Optional stop at the Meserani Snake Park or Maasai Market for souvenirs. Arrive in Arusha in time for lunch.
You'll be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight. If you have a late flight, day rooms can be arranged for rest and freshening up. End of your incredible Tanzanian safari adventure.
